Road from Pathankot to Dalhousie

Dalhousie Day Trip

Distance: 70-80 km | Drive: 2.5-3 hours

Dalhousie, with its colonial charm, pine forests, and panoramic Himalayan views, is the most popular day trip from Pathankot. The drive itself is scenic, winding through the Shivalik hills.

Must-see: Gandhi Chowk, Subhash Baoli, Panchpula, Satdhara Falls, Khajjiar (Mini Switzerland).

Tip: Start early (6-7 AM) to make the most of your day. Return by evening to Pathankot.

💡 Tip: The last stretch from Banikhet to Dalhousie has steep curves. Drive carefully, especially in monsoon.
Dharamshala from Pathankot

Dharamshala & Kangra Trip

Distance: 100 km | Drive: 3-3.5 hours

Home to the Dalai Lama, Dharamshala offers a unique blend of Tibetan culture, Himalayan views, and tea gardens. The nearby Kangra town has the historic Kangra Fort.

Must-see: Bhagsunath Temple, Dal Lake, Norbulingka Institute, Kangra Fort, Tea Gardens.

Chamba valley near Pathankot

Chamba Day Trip

Distance: 65 km | Drive: 2-2.5 hours

Chamba is one of the oldest hill towns in Himachal, known for its ancient temples, palace, and scenic riverside setting along the Ravi River.

Must-see: Laxmi Narayan Temple complex, Chamba Palace, Bhuri Singh Museum, Champavati Temple.

Tip: Combine with a visit to Shahpurkandi Fort and Kathlour Sanctuary on the way back.

Jammu region near Pathankot

Jammu & Vaishno Devi

Distance: 100 km to Jammu city | Drive: 2 hours

Pathankot is the last major stop before Jammu. Many pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi pass through Pathankot. You can also visit the historic Raghunath Temple and Bahu Fort in Jammu.

Tip: Pathankot railway station is a common boarding point for trains to Katra (Vaishno Devi base).

Day 7 (Optional): Amritsar Extension
